Not the Brightest Youth in America

Matt to me: Hey, Blogspot dot com, you gonna come downstairs and watch TV tonight?
Point taken. I probably have been spending a little too much QT on the computer lately.

So I'm gonna make this post short (yea right). And I've actually been thinking about changing the times that I post. I usually do it at night, after I've put Kate to bed. Now I'm thinking of making my usual post time in the mornings before I go to work. I usually have a good hour of down time before I leave for work.....we'll see.

I got to talk with a friend of mine from college, Virginia, on the phone today. She's getting married in April and we had some catching up to do! After reminiscing for a while, I was reminded of a story from my college days that I told Sal Gal the other day and she insisted that I blog about it.

She has an unhealthy love for stories involving my humiliation.

During my freshman year of college there was a short period of time that I had a deep concern for Asian youth. My roommates and I usually kept our TV on at all times, so I would constantly be hearing bits and pieces of different shows. I kept hearing the news stations talking about the Asian youth and I couldn't help but keep wondering what on earth did they do that was so wrong (or so right) to keep them in the media so much? Like I said, I rarely caught the news program in its entirety, but instead heard parts of it as I was passing through.
Well, as time passed, I found myself still wondering about the youth in Asia and my curiosity finally got the best of me. So one day while eating lunch with one of my roommates, I nonchalantly asked, "What is the big deal with the youth in Asia? Why are the news stations always talking about them?"
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know, it just seems that every time I hear the news, they're talking about the youth over in Asia."
It was in that moment that every bit of my roommate's preconceived notions of my intelligence were shattered. She looked at me with sympathetic eyes, as if feeling sorry for me, and then started laughing.
"Really? Are you being serious?"
"Yes. Why? TELL ME."
They're saying, 'euthanasia' Hollie, gah!"

Now excuse me while I go and carry out a self esteem building exercise.
