Happy B-day Grandma and A Bit O' Success

Yesterday Kate played outside for quite a while. If I would have known the child was going to love the outdoors so much, I would have skipped the time and money we spent designing her nursery and just put her crib on the porch with a mosquito net around it! Here she is lovin' every minute of it!

My parents came in town from S.C. yesterday and we decided to take my grandma out to eat for her 81st birthday. We went to eat Japanese and managed to have ourselves a grand ol' time. Unfortunately for me, the food and my stomach got into a little tiff and I was feeling a little less than stellar by the time we made it home. Let's just say the bathroom and I spent some QT together, and shared our deepest, darkest secrets. We're now BFF's.

Kate doing that little smile I love

Matt and I, during happier moments, before I got home and the food decided to show me who was boss.

My Dad and me

My beautiful mom

Kate, always wanting to drink someone else's drink.

Notice anything?

Yeah, I let him borrow my cart.

"Hey birthday girl, we'll be out in the car whenever you're ready!"
Because you NEVER know who'll run into on the 20 minute ride home.

And before I go, let me make a quick note about something that popped up on my AOL screen yesterday. Yes, I still have AOL as my welcome page even though I haven't used AOL as my internet/email provider in about 5 years. I don't do well with change. One of the main headlines was about Jessica Simpson and Carrie Underwood and their ongoing fight over Tony Romo. It asked: Are you Team Jessica or Team Carrie. Hmmmmm, let me think about that, okay I'm finished, how 'bout Team Neither?! Now, I do enjoy Carrie's music and I must admit I did like some of Jessica's early pop and still like her Christmas album; HOWEVER, I get pretty tired of reading about their little triangle they got going on. They're constantly cutting on one another and arguing about whose more successful in life. What I really wanna say is: Hey ladies! Try this on for size - try chasing a 1 year old around in circles nonstop, changing dirty diapers one right after the next, frying your husband up an artery-clogging country fried steak for dinner, while managing to keep your laundry pile at least one inch below ceiling level, scrubbing your own toilets, doing your own hair and make-up (even if it is only twice a week), and going to bed exhausted only to wake up the next day to do it all over again, and all the while still thinking to yourself, "My life is pretty close to perfect." THAT, my lovely ladies, is being truly successful.

Edited to include - Sorry for the whacked out spacing on this post....I have no idea what was up with my computer tonight.

First- Kate's dresses are so adorable! What a cutie.
Second- so sorry that you had to bond with the potty. That is the worst. I was laughing about the wording you used to describe your BFF-ness, then I moved on to the Pimp cart. I swear I was giggling like a freak.
Third- the pink-ness comment also made me giggle like a freak. You get me, girlfriend!

Oh, yeah. If I had a gun to my head I would pick Carrie. But I am going to have to say AMEN to what you said! They would probably never make it, doing what we do.

I love Kate's black and white dress! She is so cute.

Girl I know how you feel with the Japanese food. I cant eat it without problems. And even though I know it is going to mess me up....I still eat it because it is so dang good!

This post cracked me up. I need a laugh today!

I've gotta say, I'm a huge Carrie fan and I'm disappointed at all this behavior with Tony and Jessica. PUhlease! I think they'd all be better off with your definition of true success!
