And then he started picking out my deodorant

I'm on the hunt for new perfume. For the past six years I've worn Michael by Michael Kors.

However, when I ran out of my last bottle, I had just given birth and replenishing my perfume (or parfum) supply was not top on my list.

Well, I think I'm ready to take the leap.

I'm ready to smell good again.

I knew it was time to make a purchase when the other night M to the Izza and I were in Wal-mart in the deodorant section. The boy is forever running out of deodorant so we find ourselves in this section quite often. Anyway, I was on the verge of running out too, so I decided to pick me up some as well. I grabbed my usual Ban Regular Scent and threw it into the cart. That's what I've worn since the first day I ever started wearing deodorant and I've never strayed...even though there's been way cooler deodorants that have came out since then. I live on the edge like that. It doesn't have much of a scent, just a light one. Well, I turned and started to walk away to continue our shopping. I notice Matt isn't following so I stop and look back. He's holding up a stick of deodorant and says, "Ooooo, I would like it if you would wear this kind. It smells goooooood. "

Great. Apparently he's realized that the only part of my body that I manage to put any kind of scent on is my pits.

"Okay that's it. I'm buying myself some perfume," I say and chunk the deodorant he's holding into the cart.

It's pretty bad when your "signature scent" has become your dadblame deodorant.

I have plenty of body sprays from Victoria Secret and Bath and Body Works but I don't what any more of those. I want REAL perfume again!

So here's where you come in.

What are some of your favorite perfumes? Although I LOVE my Michael Kors and am tempted to just buy some more of it and call it a day, I really would like to try something new. I know that I've smelled different scents on people and liked them, but didn't get a chance to ask them the name.
So help a girl out and share with me your favorite perfume (parfum).
I would love to hear from everyone, even if you've never left a comment before, even if it is anonymous.
Help me take the pressure of smelling good off of my pits for a while. They've done a fabulous job over the past year but hey, everyone deserves a little break every now and then.

This story is hilarious to me because I pick out Todd's deoderant.

I wear "Fantasy" by Britney Spears. Not because I love her, but that perfume rocks. ANd seriously, I get compliments on it EVERYWHERE I go. "Princess" by Vera Wang is also very nice. When it comes to my scents I don't want to be too fruity or too flower. I like something in the middle of both.

Happy perfume shopping!

I wear Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. It's very clean smelling without being fruity and not too musky either...for me it's just right. I always get asked what I'm wearing...but only when someone hugs me, so apparently it's not too strong either!

(I feel like I just told the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, perfume-style)

I actually have a perfume collection, maybe 9 or 10 in my repitoir (sp?)...but my all time favorites are:

1) Escada En Fleurs (light, sort of fruity but 1,000% addictive smelling)

2) Il Bacio by Borghese (a bit muskier, but womanly musky, its a gorgeous, classy smell) and

3)I love CoCo Chanel Madmoiselle. I mean, its Chanel, you can't go wrong.

Let us know which one you choose!!!

I love perfume! Here are some of my favorites:

1. Body by Victoria (Victoria's Secret I get compliments every time I wear this. Reminds me of clean laundry.)

2. Stella by Stella McCartney (this stuff is probably my signature scent. I've been wearing it since it was first released about 4 years ago.)

3. I Love Love by Moschino (very fruity, but in a good way. Very clean.)

4. Halloween by J. Del Pozo (this one is hard to find, but it is amazing!)

5. Sexy Little Things, Victoria's Secret (My boyfriend's favorite. He always notices when I wear this one.)

6. Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf (expensive but yummy!)

7. Sensi by Giorgio Armani (my dad bought me this for Christmas several years ago. Very soft. I get lots of compliments with this as well.)

As you can see I'm a little obsessed w/perfume! Please let us know what you decide! Have fun!

Obviously I haven't strayed since high school...because the other people's comments had me going "Whaaaat's that??" Anyhoo... I wear Calvin Klein Eternity. =) But lately I have been having the freako headaches and not putting it on... so I put on WM brand vanilla lotion and my kids at school tell me how good I smell. And I'll admit. It's going to my head. =)

Oh I have two that I swear-by!

My "night" scent: Rapture by Victoria's Secret (it's not just spray..it's actual perfume!)

My "day" scent: Romance by Ralph Lauren

...although I just got Chinese Apple Blossom perfume from Bath & Body...not too shabby.

I'm loving you put this on here because I've been wanting to know what's good too. I loved "Body by Victoria" but they dont make it anymore - or its hard to find & have felt lost ever since.....

Now I want to go to a store & sniff all these mentioned!

Okay-you have GOT to go with me tomorrow night and go to Sephora-they have a great selection. Man, you really need to get out. Kate is nearly 18 months...has it been that long? Dang girl!

I have worn many... and HAVE many. But I mostly wear Happy by Clinique. LOVE it and people always ask what perfume I'm wearing when I have it on! Good luck.

I have a few different fresh fruity scents that I switch up all from Fresh. They are perfect for day - just enough but not overdone. I'm excited to see everything everyone else is suggesting and can't wait to make it to a mall and do some sniffing!

One of my favorite perfumes is Angel....I have had several co-workers that have worn it and I can smell them a MILE away (in a good way). Unfortunately, my husband had a woman that he worked with that wore it and he HATES it :( So of course, I don't wear it any longer. But I really love how it smells...try it out!!!

I like Clinique Happy. I also really like True Love by Elizabeth Arden.

Hi, I'm a blog stalker. I have worn Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue for a couple of years, and I always get people asking what I'm wearing. It's a simple clean scent.

Hollie,

Unfortunately, I am not much help on this post. Up until about 5 or 6 years ago, I was the "queen of perfumes". It was about that time that I started being chemically sensitive to almost any kind of fragrances, cleaning products, laundry products, etc. Since that time, I have changed to all "green" cleaning products that contain no chemicals or fragrances and I can no longer wear perfumes. )-: I can't even be around anyone that does, so my entire family is pretty much fragrance-free.

When I wore perfume, though, my husband loved Victoria's Secret "Heavenly" and I loved Donna Karan "Cashmere Mist". Now, I wear a Certified Organic body lotion with organic essential oils and that's about the extent of my "smelling good". I don't even have a good smelling deodorant like you - I wear a natural crystal. lol

Good luck on your search!

i know you already know what i wear but i kinda just wanted to add mine to the list.

1. Alfred Sung Shi: my fave. and chad wears Alfred Sung Hei (get it? she and he) so we have complementing scents. found this description for the shi: a luminous floral fragrance with an initial impression of water lily and fig leaves and midnotes of orange blossom and frangipani.

2. Juicy Couture: i think it smells slightly like an old woman when you sniff it from the bottle but i like it MUCH better once i get it on. I found this description about it: a lush mix of watermelon, mandarin, passion fruit, apple, tuberose, caramel crème brulee with woods and patchouli.

I like Very Sexy for Her 2 by Victoria Secret. It's embarassing though when people ask you what you're wearing and you have to say all of that.

BTW M to the Izza looks familiar. He is by chance from Texas? Like the Dallas area?

Um, ment to say "Is he by chance."

I have had the same perfume since high school. The same BOTTLE. So I'm not much help to you. I don't know why I have never taken the time to care about how I smell. Maybe I should. Although I have never had any complaints that I smell bad. But then again would somebody just tell me? ? Hm.. Maybe I should look into this perfume thing.

Baby Doll by Yves St Laurent

I don't wear perfume daily, only on special occassions - but, when I do it's Chanel No. 5. It's expensive, but of course since I don't wear it that often it's well worth the money; it also makes me feel good wearing it. I've had my bottle for years.

I can get a bit sensitive to synthetic fragrance (which is why I only use natural fragrance from essential oils in the products we develop), so sometimes I simply dot a bit of lavender essential oil on my wrists and neck.

TAlk about not bloggin'. When you gonna update?

Hi Hollie, I am visiting via a jump from Lavender Chick.

I too am in the process of buying perfume and have been to Ulta and the Mall I don't know how many times to smell! I bought Diamonds Intense (Armani) Thursday, but afraid to open it because I might not like it. I went to the mall today and sprayed some on my neck to make sure. I think I will open it. I have always worn "Live" by Brighton and just finished a bottle of Lovely. I have been out of perfume now for over a month and driving myself crazy trying to find one. I am going to read your comments to get some ideas too!

Drop by sometime!

Paige

Just found your blog and I am loving it!

I wear coco mademoiselle by chanel - my mom wears no. 5 and i have always felt it worked for her but coco mademoiselle was always more my style - a bit lighter and more youthful.

good luck with your search!

I just read the comments and I don't think I saw this one on here anywhere...I wear MISS DIOR CHERIE and I love it. You can buy it at Sephora. I'm not a huge perfume person because I get a headache from anything really strong, but I love this scent and I've been wearing it for several years. I don't think it has a huge following and I'm not sure why, but you may want to give it a whif!

I jumped from scent to scent for years until my boss found Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf- it was initially only sold at Saks so not many knew of it. I've been through several bottles and still love it. It's great for summer and winter which is hard to do with some scents. It's a little expensive but it's well worth it. The scent lasts all day.

Anonymous said...

A little late, but my top three favorites are:
Coco Mademoiselle (Chanel)
Light Blue (Dolce&Gabana)
Juicy Couture

I've had a great experience with all of the above as far as lasting all day, great dry down scent, and of course receiving compliments :)

Happy belated hunting!

Okay, here is my pick. I have been a fragrance model for a couple of years and have smelled everything. My favorite of all time is "Touch of Pink" by Lacoste. People stop me all the time and ask what I'm wearing.

WorthyStyle said...

I wear...

Lauren Style by Ralph Lauren (cube-shaped bottle, pink colored with black top) in the Cooler months

In the summer, I wear the green bottle of Chanel Chance perfume.

: )

Very classic, light, but pleasant

Angel by Thierry Mugler is by far the best perfume (in my opinion). Everytime I wear it people ask what it is and where to get it. You MUST try it!

I just randonly came across your site tonight when clicking through the next blog and your daughter is adorable even when dad dresses her.

As for perfume, I wear alot of the ones mentioned but my newest is Wild Fig from Henry Bendels. I have never gotten so many compliments about perfume before.

Good luck with the shopping and smelling
