On the way home from a relaxing day at the pool with Kerri and Brock, I pulled through Wendy's to get Kate some milk for her sippy. Unfortunately, the milk never made it to the sippy but rather spilled in its entirety all over me, the driver's seat, and floorboard of my car.
I should have never made that stop for the milk. But my thinking behind it was that even though we were only about 10 minutes from home, maybe the milk would be what she needed to send her into her afternoon nap. After hearing her ask for it over and over without taking breaths in between, I caved. Mommy Failure Number......oh who's counting?
In my spastic rush to open it and pour it into her cup, I managed to spill the entire pint-sized container everywhere. When I finally made it home the remaining five miles, I was soaked and so was the whole driver's side of my car.
Seriously, I can only imagine what that is going to smell like tomorrow. M to the Izz-A did some combination of baking soda, water, and upholstery cleaner to it, along with a shop vac, but I don't know if it's going to help.
Any suggestions? I thought about sprinkling the floor mats with Chocolate Nesquik powder and hoping it created a chocolate milk scent. Matt didn't approve. PLEASE share with me if you know of anything else
I'm trying to look on the bright side. Things could always be worse. At least I didn't accidentally cut big holes in my car seats because then he'd be trying to put these on them.
It may just be all in my head, but I think it's already starting to smell.
And I thought Kate's dingy, stained-up car seat cover was funky.
*Pics from Kate's date with Brock coming up in tomorrow's Wordless Wednesday post. I'm too busy crying over spilled milk.

White vinegar. TRUST ME! Not only have I done this but my daughter has unfortunately (about 5 times) had the milk and then gotten car sick. Sorry to be gross! But if the vinegar took the smell of that out - it will surely help just plain ole milk! Good Luck!
i dont have the answer, but your "nesquick" idea did crack me up.
you're adorable!
:)
I once spilled milk under my oven, I thought I got it all cleaned up but the next morning the smell let me know that I had indeed not cleaned it all up. It was horrible. Good luck! :-)
I will NOT be showing those seat covers to Country. His floor mats are bad enough!!!
At least you we only on your way home haha.....we were at breakfast before going to church this past Sunday and my husband knocked over one of the kids milk all over my lap. (all those kids and my husbands spills) anyway, we were running late so I went to church smelling like rotten milk. The milk ran down my legs and all over my heels so they were slipping when I walked... and just trying to clean myself up in a restaurant in heels and a dress was a show.
If the floor mats can be removed, have them prof. cleaned by a carpet cleaner. And I would do the same with the seat, etc. Call a car dealership and ask for a good detail person. They will be able to get it squeaky clean!! Good Luck!
Hollie,
Vinegar will work. My sons (so grose) threw up milk once on the couch and we used vinegar to clean it. It smelled like vinegar for a few days but then it fades and the milk smell is gone. Try it! Good luck with those camo seat covers!
Vinegar is an excellent cleaning agent that helps removes odors too. I would definitely try using it deluted a little with water and spraying it onto the milk with a spray bottle.
i'm going with the nesquick idea! ok maybe not really! haha. Maybe a carwash could do a little detailing. I hope you can get it out!
Kudos to you for keeping calm. I always get so upset when I do something like this! haha
I've always heard vinegar too??? Good luck!
My husband would love those seat covers...but they would not fly by me! haha!
My husband and I just worked on this issue in his car this week. What worked for us was the Bissell SpotBot and then putting baking soda over it to eliminate the odor. But, we tried many other options before this one actually worked. The key is sucking up the liquid...because when we would just spray carpet cleaner on it...it would just add to the mix of smells.
Go look in B's truck he's got those exact same seat covers and proud of 'em man!
I'm at work and don't have your number will you please email some pictures from Sat. kedwards18_2000@yahoo.com
Thanks!
I agree with the watered down vinegar for sure. Try to "Google" some other options as well. Fingers crossed for you!
Sorry, no help here... but DO NOT put the chocolate on it. (As if you were going to. Duh.) But a few years ago, a boy had put his afterschool snack in his backpack to save for at home. Then he forgot about it. Fastforward to 3 days later when he sits on his backpack in my classroom. I was pregnant with Kinley and thought I was going to die. It looked like chocolate cottage cheese and smelled horrid. I am gagging at the memory.
Good luck with the clean up... it might be necessary to go to a professional car detailing place. I would spend the money if it smelled bad enough!!
Nothing works like vinegar!
Why didn't you ask me for milk? We had a good time too...Too bad your day ended with a spill...Try "Odo-ban" I think that is how it is spelled...Try Wal-mart:-)
I'm thinking pay out the big bucks and get it detailed... So sorry, but funny post!
I'll admit.. I like the seat covers hahahaha...
I was bringing home groceries and my milk spilled into the carpet of my SUV. The ONLY thing I found to get the smell out was a product from a pet store called " Natures Miracle". It worked great. I just put some in a small sprayer and sprayed the area and the next day I couldn't even tell. It was like 6 dollars at local pet store. Good Luck!
