For a GREAT cause

In a little less than two weeks I'll be running in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. That number is startling to me. I'm sure most of us know someone who has been diagnosed whether it is a family member, close friend or acquaintance.
Until a few years ago, when people talked about loved ones getting cancer, or having personal tragedies occur, I would always think to myself, "That'll never happen to me." Although I don't know what it's like to be diagnosed with breast cancer, I now realize what an ignorant way of thinking that was and God has shown me a different perspective through other areas of my life. Now instead of thinking, "Why me?" I realize I should be thinking "Why NOT me?" Who am I to think I'm different and above such unfortunate events in my life? Cancer shows no favoritism.

I want to give anyone who would like to a chance to donate and help raise money for breast cancer research. CLICK HERE to go to my personal race page and there's a link to make a donation.
Thank you.

I'm so proud of you for participating in the race!
One of my best friends was finding out today if her sister has cervical cancer. She told me about it last night and I realized how often we take our health for granted. Way to go on helping the cause!

I just wanted to say thank you for running. It is so important that something is done to find a cure. My mom was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer less than 2 years ago. After a double mastectomy, removal of too many lymph nodes to count, chemo and radiation, the cancer spread to her brain. She has had to endure even more radiation and has most recently had Gamma Knife surgery (not to mention some life threatening complications from her meds. This disease is a b*tch and there is nothing fair about it. We are losing our moms, sisters and friends and it makes me so sad.

Hey Hollie! Thanks for your sweet comment...made me feel so good. I don't have many people who comment yet, so it was even that much more special. I've really enjoyed reading your blog - you seem like such a neat person.
Way to go for running in Race for the Cure. My Grandma survived breast cancer several years ago so I ran it a couple of weeks ago in Tulsa OK in celebration of her. It was great fun. Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for doing such a great thing!
