Mother-in-law and Cheez-Its

My mother-in-law popped in for an overnight stay last night so I wasn't able to blog. I found out she was coming at the last minute. Actually, to be completely honest, I found out Sunday night, but in mom-in-law time that IS last minute. Especially when you're at work and remember spotting a half-eaten Cheez-It while rushing out the door for church the day before and can't remember where you saw it. So after work, which actually wasn't as much work as it was staring at a Power Point for eight hours while drifting in and out of a coma (I had to attend yet another workshop of sorts), I rushed home with the goal of finding that Cheez-It and doing a few last minute spot cleans.

Sal Gal and her fam were coming over for dinner, too. I already had a roast in the crock pot so I just had to throw together a few sides dishes(and have Sal Gal pick up a couple other sides from our fave chicken joint...shhhhh), make a big pitcher of sweet tea, and we were set. We had a great time talking, laughing, repeatably telling the kids to settle down, and eating.

Before bed we made hot chocolate, which I haven't had in a while, and I think it may have had a sleep aid in it because it made me the sleepiest girl in America. I fell asleep pretty early and actually got to sleep in a little this morning because I'm off work due to Veteran's Day and my dear mother-in-law got up with Kate.

Oh, and I did find that Cheez-It.

All is well 'round here.

Before the inlaws come I always run around like a crazy woman cleaning. My hubby makes fun of me, but I just can't help it. I don't want them to think that I let the dishes go one day without being done! Which I totally do.

I go into a cleaning panic when my husbands family comes over... I sometimes throw everything into the pantry and then just pray they don't open that door!

Ha, that phantom cheez-it part of the story was totally cracking me up!

Hot chocolate has that same effect on me. I think it's the combination of the warm liquid,PLUS the fact that I am actually sitting still for a change.

That dinner sounds yummy!
