Just Don't Ask Me to Look to the Left

Last night, my younger sis Big Al came over to Sal Gal's to hang out with us for a while after work. Some how or another, we ended up getting her to do her famous Carlton (from Fresh Prince of Bel Air) dance. Til this day I've never seen anybody do that dance as perfect as she does. If we would have had our video camera handy, you can bet that you'd be watching that video right now! Even though I've seen her do it hundreds of times, I still laugh til I cry every time. It's the small things people.
For some reason I ended up falling asleep on the couch around 9:30pm. Yep. When I party, I party hard. I was exhausted....and a little sore. Here's why:

Yesterday morning I set a new personal record while getting ready for work. I showered, shaved, washed (seriously, not just put powder in it), dried, straightened my hair, and even applied some make-up all in about 30 minutes. However, I managed to completely throw my neck out in the process.
Ready to laugh?
I bent my head over to wrap up my wet hair in a towel and then slung my head back up. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Well, I got a little overzealous with my slingback. I really need to work on being less spastic about things.
Okay, you can stop picturing it in your head now.
Seriously.
Stop.
Now I can only turn my neck to the right, looking to the left is a task. But, I must say it was totally worth it to achieve my new record. I took one for the team. I'm tough like that.
The bad part is that since M-to -the-Izz-A is out of town, I have no one to complain to or coerce to feel sorry for me.

Speaking of the hubby, I'm really missing that guy. I joked around with him before he left, saying how much I was going to enjoy his absence because he is so very hyper and sometimes has a hard time just relaxing. Sal Gal and I like to refer to him as 'intense'. A common quote around our house is, "Matt, you're at a seven and I'm gonna need you to bring it down to about a two or three" (referring to his hyperactivity level). I kid with him a lot but he knew I was really sad that he was leaving for a week. I even got a wild hair and baked him some brownies for the road. (my one domestic wild hair for the year) He thanked me and then mumbled something about the other guys making fun of him. We then battled it out head to head had a heart to heart conversation about how to be thankful and appreciative when people do nice things for you.
But since he's been gone for a few days, Kate and I are indeed missing him. The past two mornings Kate has woken up saying, "Da-da, Da-da". That hurts my heart for her, but I just keep reminding myself that he'll be home on Friday.
It always helps to have something to look forward to: Personal Massage Therapist Husband returns home on Friday!
I can't wait to just sit on the couch and watch T.V. together.
Him on the right, me on the left, of course.

I love the mental picture of the head fling... sorry you hurt yourself!
I am curious though... Sal Gal and Big Al are your sisters, right? Can you tell us their real names? I am curious. =)

You've done the powder in the hair thing too? I had to try that two or three times (embarrassingly) and I always thought I was the only one! It helps, but it still isn't the same, so kudos to you on 30 min getting ready routine! No pain, no gain huh? And stay strong, Friday's almost here!

Doesnt sound like you would have been a good 80's head banger! :-) Put some warm moist towels on your next - relax that muscle...I know that hurts!

Bless your heart! I did that once when I was younger playing b-ball with my brother. My neck was sideways for a few days which resulted in having to sleep on the couch sitting straight up with a pillow on my shoulder for support! I feel for you sister :)
Husbands are the best little caregivers when we're hurting or sick for sure!

SO funny about the slingback - I kept thinking of the "Bend and snap" from Legally Blonde for some reason!!

I miss my hubby when he's gone too - I think it's just a sign that they are really really good husbands. (o:

Ha the image of someone doing the "Carlton" cracks me up!

Sorry to hear about your neck. I hate neck aches...especially when the hubs isn't around to massage it out!

I love the Carlton! Too funny!

As for the towel swing, um yeah, I feel ya! Only what I did once was bent over forward too quick and smacked my forehead on the door knob. That alone about took me out!! Talk about a nice bump on the head! Luckily no bruising. :D

Thanks for visiting! I'm lovin' your blog! My hubs was freakin' because you're a Gator...our weekends are scheduled around Gator games. As for another resemblance, I'm also a left and hubs is on the right (tv, bed, sitting in church, photos, etc)!! I'll be visiting you again. How do you know Hollie?

Oh my gosh! That is terrible. When I was a freshman in college, I did the hair-flip-in-a-towel move and threw out my back. I went to the doctor and found out I had a slipped disk!

Will you tell me how you are able to put lines through your words? My friend and I cannot figure out how to do that. Thanks in advance!
