This past weekend M to the Izz-A was able to race his mini-cup car for the first time. The kid was more excited than I am when a restaurant has their diet coke dispenser set to the perfect carbonation syrup mixture ratio.
And can I just say that I used to hate all things racing? The only memory I have of racing is when I was a kid, on Sundays, my Uncle David use to make everyone watch Nascar while Grandma finished preparing Sunday dinner. I used to hate it....with a passion. I used to wish that someone would speak up and say, "Hey, let's not watch cars drive around and around in a circle today, whaddya say?"
But no one ever did.
I liked it when Grandma fired up the electric knife to cut the roast because it made the TV go all fuzzy. I secretly hoped he'd mistake it for the channel going out, but he knew the drill. Electric knife running in the kitchen = Fuzzy TV in the living room.
Now, with Matt all into this mini-cup series, I'm finding myself starting to enjoy it. I love watching him out there because I know how much he loves it. And it ends up being quite exciting if you actually know someone on the track. Seeing him smile that big all day long made me smile that big....all day long.

Ya'll should eat at Jestine's Kitchen! My boyfriend was a Charleston City police officer for the first two years that we dated. I drove there every other weekend, and Jestine's was our first stop, every time! The food is AMAZING!! Racheal Ray and Oprah have both hailed it as delicious and it's been featured in Southern Living many, many times. But, I've eaten there probably 50+ times and I've NEVER had anything I didn't like. The Sunday Pot Roast is my fave!
Now, if you go there and hate it....then, I shall deny writing this comment and pretend I have no clue what Jestine's is ;)
Have a great time!!!!
I'm the same way about racing - I just don't get it. But, I'm happy that you're starting to enjoy it - since it's something that your hubs likes to do! Makes it that much more enjoyable when they get all excited like a little boy, huh? :)
My husband and I were just there on Saturday! We were only there for a few hours, but I will say that we had GREAT food at the East Bay Deli and stopped into Planter's Inn for coconut cake (it was on Bobby Flay's Throwdown) -so good! We drove through the Battery which was really pretty! I wish we would have had more time to spend there but we do plan to go back! So let us know what kind of great things you find to do! Have fun!!
How fun! My dad's a NASCAR fan too...and gets really sentimental when the jets fly over at the beginning. Not even kidding.
When we have brunch at their house on Sunday afternoon, it's like: WHERE EARPLUGS.
they had such a great time!! the smiles were priceless!!!
great pics!
You're totally gonna add that sticker! You know it! ;)
You look like a NASCAR wife... big shades, good hair, etc! lol
Have fun on your time away with your girls!

carriage ride, boat tour of the harbor (you can get a combo pass for the two) go to the market shop on King St walk down the battery when you first get there, go to the visitors/welcome center and grab all the brochures you can and a map. Every thing really good is within walking distance. Have a great time, Charleston is my favorite place to go:)
