New Kicks and Movie Night With a Friend

Today I went to buy new running shoes and as I've mentioned before, the only shoes I've ever ran are Asics. But I decided to go and have a 5-step analysis done to make sure I am using the correct shoe for my specific needs. Not knowing what to expect, I managed to remove my chipped toenail polish before going only to find out that the 'socks stay on'. It was for the best.

On the way there I told M to the Izz-A that I really hoped that they didn't tell me I had to wear something other than Asics or that I needed some type of 'special shoe'. But what I really, really didn't want to hear is that I had hammer toes. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt tells someone else that they've got hammer toes.

One time when I was in middle school my mom took me to buy some new shoes and the saleslady that was supposed to measure my foot told me that I had hammer toes. Granted, my toes are long and bony but I don't think that working part-time in the JC Penney's shoe department gave her the medical authority to diagnose me with hammer toes. Not to mention, I was in middle school, also known as myselfesteemishangingonbyathread stage. I don't think I wore flip-flops for months after that.

Now I'm over it. Or am I??

The whole foot analysis went pretty quickly and I was told that my feet are narrow, but that I had a normal heel to toe progression. The Asics that I have been running in all these years were indeed one of the shoes they would have recommended for me. I was so happy because I really didn't want to switch brands.

My feet are happy...as are my toes.
Last night we piled up on the couch with some popcorn and had a family movie night.

The four of us had a great time.

Yes, four. Kate had a friend join us.

Meet Baby.

And of course, she had to sit right up on the couch with us and have her own bowl of popcorn.

Nobody puts Baby in a corner.

Looks like movie night was fun! i've been wanting to do this foot analysis thing myself. I've always worn Nike, but now that I plan on running mini-marathon I want the correct shoe.

That cracks me up. Literally. All of it.
-I am lovin' your special guest at movie night. Too cute.
-I have never tried Asics, but then again, I've never tried running. ha ha.
-The middle school age IS so delicate and my neice's dr told her at her last appt that she is huge. Um, really? She isn't- she has just already matured. Men are stupid sometimes.

So sweet that baby got popcorn! lol
I am a creature of habit too, but totally need to do this foot analysis because I can't find a good running shoe at the moment. Thanks for the idea.

isn't it funny how things like that stick with us from when we are kids? I mean who cares if you have a hammer toe? at least it's not on your face!!! lol. {this also comes from a person who not only has the ugliest feet in the world {+bunion surgery} but possible hammer toes as well} :) also, now I want pop corn.

Great Post!! Love that last line!!

You knew what was best for your feet all along!

I always run in Asics too. I have long, narrow feet (and SUPER long skinny toes) and the one time I bought Nikes I really regreted it.

I also have a major fear of buying the wrong shoes and screwing my feet up... ugh :( -- Glad you found a great pair!

Your daughter is just precious!

Glad you got to stick with your shoes! I got put in izumis again... love them.

Love your new addition!

I had one of those analysis done. I have EXTREMELY flat, wide feet. So much so that I have to wear the shoes with extra support. You know the ones that have thicker than normal sole that can sometimes be mistaken for special needs? Yeah that's my shoe.

WE HAVE A BABY!! Oh my word girl! I knew I loved you! My daughter's baby doesn't look like your daughters, but we have had her since Caroline was little and she has always called her Baby! AND she is so fragile because she is like a stuffed animal with a baby head and she has been washed a bagillion times! Her face is so dirty and she is thread bare, but RIGHT now Caroline is home sick and she is laying on the couch with Baby. SOO funny. Glad there was not another hammertoe diagnosis. GIRL! You might have had to bow up on somebody! Don't mess with our feet now! ha!
Have a great day!

Had to check you out, what a cute blog! I love to run as well. The shoe thing? Scares me too. I am currently on my 4th pair of Asics Gel Kayano 14's. They have recently moved on to the Kayano 15, and I fear when I need to as well. I do love my asics though! THe baby? Cute as a dolL!

I'm in a pair of asics gel nimbus- love em. They are more expensive than other asics but the added comfort is worth it!! Funny story--- I sold my old pair on eBay for like $15... Can you believe someone bought my old stank running shoes?!

Back in middle school and high school my biggest insecurity (besides being a little awkward at 5'8" and about 95 lbs soaking wet) were my feet. I have big-big toes and long second toes and I was SO insecure about them!! People's comments about them then still resonate with me!

So mean... :)
