One Tough Towel

M to the Izz-A quite frequently makes fun of the fact that Kate and I use the same towel for most of her baths.

"That thing is going to walk off by itself if you don't give it a break."

The truth is, while yes, we do use it almost every night for her bath, I do wash it all the time just so that we can!

She smiles every time she sees it and while it is definitely cute, I like it for all of the practical reasons: absorbent, soft, hooded, long in length, and plush. We have several others but they are all very thin and way too short for my long-legged love.

At first I argued the fact that we've used it so often over the past year and a half. I didn't even remember having it that long. But it's true, I will purposely dig that towel out of the dirty clothes and wash it just so we can use it that night. I was proven wrong while looking back at pictures taken almost a year ago and found that many of them had Kate wrapped up in that exact towel.

Last night

So yes, I admit that he was right.

If you're gonna be a part of this household, you gotta be tough. And this towel has proven to be that and so much more, which is more than I can say for many other 'must have' baby items that have been shoved in baskets under Kate's changing table and never again saw the light of day since their failure of a debut.

Speaking of getting your use out of things, Kate and I had another wild time tonight on her horse that she got for Christmas. She loves taking me for rides on it.

If you listen carefully you can probably hear the 'pretty pony' crying.

Rooster tail of a hair-do sold separately.

And yes, Matt's resourcefulness has books pinned to the wall to ensure that our child-safety gate at the bottom of the stairs doesn't rub off the paint. Too late. And we change the books out every so often to give the impression that we read a lot.

If Mr. Horse is planning on hanging around as long as 'the towel', it's going to have to step it up a notch.

What a cute picture of you two on that horse! I had one just like it when I was little, although I don't think my mom dared get on it with me!

Awh!! I did that with mine too! It started off being navy. It was big, soft, and plush. It ended up being a brownish-purple color. She is almost 7 and I have no idea where that towel is or when it stopped being "the" towel. Kinda makes me sad :(

Hollie,

That is too funny. We have those same types of things (specifically towels with the little hoods) that have been around forever. My son even insisted on having the soft one that was my daughters as a hand me down. He didnt care if it was PINK... HE WANTED THAT TOWEL... Too funny..

Keep an eye out form my blogs new look, you might not recognize the Fort ever again. LOL

Love and Prayers Hollie,

Tim

So I think I paid more attention to your totally ripped arms in the picture from last night than the towel! I am so jealous!

I agree with Casey on the ripped arms!!!

The towel thing. I have two of those big soft hooded towels that were giving to me when I was pregnant and we use them every.single.night too. Now whenever I have a baby shower to go to I make one for the expecting mommy.

I had to laugh - there's that head up smile on her face on the horse!!!!

My nieces have those towels as well... I ended up going & buying a few more (their twins - so double it!) because they were doing the same thing - its the only one they would use!

I understand using the same things over and over again because they're just THAT wonderful. It's kinda like my fave. pair of jeans, I could wear them daily (but don't, but I want to) and my favorite pair of Old Gravy :) black sweats. Love 'em.
The towel is cute and does look cushy! My 3 love love bathtime.
Have a lovely weekend.

Hey we know how you feel over here in the Brown house! Sterling has a froggy towel that is the same way. Although his eyes that are on the hood part are starting to frey (sp?) but it's still serves it's purpose! It will be a long time before that one goes away!

One must change one's buffer books, you're quite right. This post is sweet and it made me laugh. And what in the world do you do to get those biceps??

Mandy Rose said...

I love the "go to" towel!! And can I just say that...you look amazing! Did you see your guns in that pic last night? Please do tell me how you accomplished those!!

Kristy said...

That is so sweet! And I am wondering- is that her monogram on the wall? Is it painted on or the velum (is that the right word?) sticker things??? I am redoing the girls' room SOON! =)

Q, La, and Gooner said...

Ok, so by now I know about how you like to "stretch" hair washing sessions. How do you do that AND run every day AND have your hair down. Any advice?

And based on your guns you need to post your healthy secrets!
