We finally put our Christmas tree up and it's in the process of being decorated. I say 'in the process' because I have a problem with just relaxing and throwing up the decorations randomly. I strategically place each one, making sure that they are evenly spaced and that the colors are spread out, without having too much red or too much green on one side or the other. And honestly, it's not even that it looks awesome after I'm finished. I feel quite certain that no one would think twice about the even spaces between my ornaments because it doesn't really add to the beauty or anything. It's just something I like knowing in my head. (In case I wasn't weird enough for ya)
We also opted to go out and replace our glass ball ornaments with shatterproof ones this year, since Kate is like a bull in a china shop. She doesn't know what the word 'gentle' means and I'm pretty sure she wouldn't choose to be it if she did. The girl is rough and ready.
Her new favorite place for us to change her diaper is under the tree so that she can look up at the lights. And if it will keep her still while I change her diaper, I'll leave the tree up year round. Just the other day she gave me a swift kick to the jugular that had me questioning my ability to recover. So this Christmas, the gift you may find under our tree may not be the one you were hoping for.
In other Kate news, she been obsessed with bubbles lately. It doesn't matter what kind. It can be bubbles in the bath, bubbles made from soapy water and a wand (but not from Rite-Aid cause they are completely ghetto and I can almost promise that they're nothing but water), or bubbles from bubblegum. She even calls balloons 'bubbles' sometimes. Every time she spots me with gum in my mouth she insists that I blow bubbles for her. Sometimes she'll demand bubbles when I'm not even chewing gum. In that case, I've found that 5th grade-style spit bubbles do the trick. They also come in handy for getting weird stares in the checkout line of the grocery store from people who aren't quite as appreciative.
So, Kate will definititely have a few bottles of bubbles from Mommy waiting for her under our tree this year.
Her gift for me, on the other hand, will probably be wrapped up nicely in a Pampers Cruiser Size 3.

i love the innocence of a child.
especially during the holiday season.
:)
Just wait until Kate can help you decorate the tree! I told my daughter (3) to try to put ornaments all over the tree (well the bottom half) but they all ended up in the same branch. And she got so mad if I tried to move one. I guess I'll have to sneak around and do it at night.
Have you watched Finding Nemo 100 times yet? You know how the fish always yells "Bubbles!!!" whenever the treasure chest in the fish tank would open? Hmmmm.....
What ever it takes, right?
But I think this is when all of us little girls started to REALLY enjoy Christmas...so think, you are planting those sweet seeds in her head right now :)
Awe, she is so precious!
So funny!
My husband can blow real bubbles out of his mouth at any time. It's the coolest thing in the world..i think she would be fascinated by him right now :) When he was a kid playing ball he played catcher and his coach taught him how to do it to distract the batters.
She is too precious, you guys sound so sweet!
After Christmas - just get an umbrella & string lights underneath of it & you can open it each time you have to change the diaper....
that is precious!! i would leave that thing up all the time :)
How adorable!!
So cute!
LOL, my daughter is still obsessed with bubbles. It's been about a 1.5year thing around here. We have more bubbles than I ever wished to see.
Good idea about changing her under the tree!! Mommies always have the best ideas.
I am the same way with the ornaments on my tree. When the boys are helping me I have to practically tie my hands behind my back to keep me from moving every single ornament they place. ;)
Oh, how I laughed at the thought of finding "presents" under the Christmas tree.
I am similarly particular about how my tree is decorated, so obviously that isn't odd at all. Although the end result doesn't show the labor involved, the Type A Minus in me enjoys the process.
Too Funny! Love your Blog! Merry Christmas!!
LoL.. too funny! The gift that keeps on giving...
Ha I love it! As long as it keeps her happy then I would leave that tree up! And I love that you blow spit bubbles...HILARIOUS!
Its funny, since I probably should buy myself some of those shatterproof balls. I have broken quite a few in my day, haha.
That is certainly a new one for me! So funny!
lol!!! great idea though! i'll give it a try when we get our tree up!
the pics turned out so good!
Hahahahahaha kids are so hilarious!!!!! I love to lay down and look up at the tree. Wonder if I wanted my diaper changed that way? I'll have to ask my mom =)
Blessings to you,
Dawn
I have already had a few shattered ornaments around my house and I don't even have kids!!! Definitely need to check into the shatterproof ones! Have I mentioned how WONDERFUL your family pictures are??!!
I always love your stories! So entertaining!
I am JUST NOW able to put breakables on my tree!
It is so funny what catches kids attention, Christmas lights and bubbles! At least you can come by bubbles for fairly cheap!
LOL! I think its so adorable that she likes to be diaper changed under the tree to look up at the lights. And I'm the same way about hanging ornaments on the tree - no randomess here, there is an order and its why I have to do it alone.
hahahahahahahaha!!!! You are so funny!!
So that's why in the nursery she kept wanting me to hold her up to the foaming sanitizer! We did that like 12 times Sunday!!
