Shrimping and Skating

On Saturday, M to to the Izz-A and I took Kake to the Shrimp Festival in Downtown Fernandina Beach. I absolutely love Centre Street because for some reason, while walking along that street, it's easy to pretend that I'm on vacation somewhere far away. And that's what I do, go on imaginary vacations...

Here she is, headed for the festival with enough sunscreen and excitement for the both of us. Please don't be jealous of my hair parting abilities. When ya got it, ya got it. And when ya don't, ya don't. And well, I don't. But like the old saying goes: Blondes with crooked parts have more fun.

Touring one of the coastguard's boats. Not quite a shrimp boat, but close enough.

I enjoyed some of the best shrimp I've ever eaten while Matt chowed down on some crawfish. Rock on dude. I'm all about some lobster tails, crab legs, and fried calamari, but I've got to draw the line somewhere.

I've always been a firm believer that people hear what they want to hear.

What I actually said: Awwww, take a picture of us with this pirate.

What he apparently heard: Awwww, take a picture of us with this pirate's crotch.

It didn't make a difference though, because as you can clearly tell from the photo, Kate was not a fan of the pirates.

Also let it be known that nothing was done to earn the beads...they were handing them out freely!

There's nothing quite like cooling off with a chocolate ice cream cone. Or so I've heard...
Later that afternoon we went to the Roberson triplet's first birthday party at our local skating rink.
I remember going to that same rink was I was a kid and hoping that my mom would just drop me off instead of going in and hanging out while I skated. She never did drop me off and I guess I'm thankful for it now. Although it really cramped my style back in the day because you know I loved playing "We like the cars, the cars that go boom" on the jukebox.

Enjoying their cakes

I thought her hot pink skates were adorable. They were a little big but she didn't seem to notice. She didn't want to take them off.

Hey Matt, Jack Tripper called and he wants his skates back.

Having fun...

...and then she starts in with her favorite phrase as of lately, "Hold me Mommy." I must admit, I don't mind.

On the road to our house there is a small field of flowers that Kate points out every time we ride by, so after church on Sunday we stopped to let her play for a while.

The flowers made for some beautiful shots of my love...

I hope you all had a great Monday. I'm off to read a little more of Twilight. I know, a little late to jump on the bandwagon. I finally gave in and decided to read the series to find out what all the hype was about with Edward Cullen. I started reading The Shack a little while back but was having to share the one copy we own with Matt, and let's face it, that's just not practical. You read a page, I read a page, you read a page, I read a page...What are we? In elementary school? So I'm going to read the Twilight series until he finishes.
Have a great week!

The flower pictures are GREAT!! My daughter also has to endure crooked parts, it is too damn hard to make it straight. (Plus she won't stand/sit still that long!)

Wow, those pics in the flowers are AWESOME! I'm jealous of the fab weather there, it's all rain and gray here.

Easy way to part hair: brush back as if to put in pony tail, then use the tip of a comb to drag a part line from the forehead to the nape of the neck. On second thought, though, she might not want to sit still for that, lol!

Hol,
These are the cutest pics of Kate and of the whole family together having fun(in between--Im gonna pull my hair out moments). You're making memories with your little doll and thats what its all about.Youll NEVER EVER FORGET THESE MOMENTS.
Camera's can be a bit deceiving when describing a whole day but you remember when you look back 25-30 years from now how precious each moment was. You think sometimes they will never become independent and then they are gone.
I remember one day when Sallie was young and she wanted to stop in front of all the store fronts at Five Points (ask someone)and I remember saying come on we have to go and get home and this and that. Then all of a sudden, I thought-time can stand still right now=-I'm tired of hurrying and dragging her along so quickly. So..........we took our time......we looked in the store windows, we talked about what was in them...,,I slowed down to just spend those precious moments with my little girl and didnt care if the whole world stood still.
That's been about 30 years ago and I remember it perfectly til' this day.
We live in a hurried world but do take time to seize those moments and I know you do....YOu will never be sorry....
By the way, it makes a mom feel good when you remember your childhood, even if you were making fun of goofy things from the past.At least memories were made....
Now, I want to make memories with my g-children....Hasnt been too easy so far with Kate but maybe before too long it will be........Love you.,mom
