What do incredibly cool people do on Saturday nights?
I have no idea. But the rest of us play Yahtzee.
Unfortunately for us, Sal Gal's got an unadulterated love for Yahtzee. Seriously, out of all the games there are out there, and she's gonna be sweet on Yahtzee?!!
Here we are sitting around Sal Gal's table. Some of us were enjoying the game a little more than the others.
Sal Gal puttin' on her game hat. When it comes to Yahtzee, this girl 'don't play'.
Big Al being super sarcastic about all of the fun (or lack of fun) she's having
Here I am contemplating whether or not to roll again or to take that pen in my hand and gouge my eyeballs out with it.
You really need to get out more often.
And now for further insight on our individual feelings regarding Yahtzee, take a look at our score cards.
Da Bomb? Really? Not quite. Sal Gal has loved this game for many years and I still can't figure out why. Too bad her scores didn't love her just as much! She also wanted it to be known that her hubby, Chad, wrote her name on her score card and that she does NOT call herself "Lil Moma". And if she did, she'd spell 'mama' correctly.
Big Al clearly doesn't share the love. Such harsh words for such dainty little flowers, don't ya think?
And yes, at this point I had already earned myself a big, fat Yahtzee! Even still, my feelings about the lame game didn't change.
Help us.
Help save our Saturday nights.
Save us from the completely boring, lame-0, makemewannapluckmyeyelashesoutonebyone game that is Yahtzee.
Let us in on where we can find real gaming pleasure! What (non-educational, please) games do you enjoy playing? Do share!

I think it looks like you guys had a blast playing Yahtzee!!! I love chicken foot (with dominos) and of course spades!!! But you just reminded me of my great love for Yahtzee, I think I might have to go out and buy it now, I need to start playing it again! (my husband will thank you later :-))
Scrabble and cranium are amongst our fav's! :)
I have a great love for Scrabble. My dad and I used to have Scrabble tournaments when I was growing up until I went off to college. In college my roommates and I started having drunken Scrabble nights in our apartment. This was a surprisingly popular event as our (super cute) neighbors (one of which I started dating) joined in on the fun!
I am glad I came across your blog! It's great!
We like Apples to Apples, Cranium, and Scene It. I am with you on Yahtzee, BORING! If you have more people, Bunco is always fun. And of course, all games are better with wine!
we play games as a family every night after dinner and those are usually UNO Attacks, Yatzee, Trouble, Uno Spins, and Phase10
for adult gatherings i highly recommend Cranium, Apples to Apples both are good with a big group.
we also love making up games..
Take 2 (use scrabble tiles turn them all upside down in the center of the table. everyone starts with 5 tiles and creates their OWN puzzle infront of them. once a person has all of their tiles in play they say "take 2" and everyone has to take 2 more tiles (even if they still have tiles not in play). the first person to use all of their tiles wins. you add up the tiles and the winner gets everyone's leftover tiles...so much fun.
Yes, Yahtzee is so...10 years ago!
But, you did look like you had fun playing :)
We like card games - Nerts is our fave. I'll show you how to play one day - it's super competitive. It's like a big game of Solitaire - great fun for a big group!
I love Yahtzee!! We played poker on Saturday night and it was lots of fun!
I actually like Yahtzee too!! haha
I like Taboo, Scategories, and Catch Phrase too...
We play my all time favorite... Sorry! and then Uno Attack. We're hip..can't you tell?
While I do love a good game of Yahtzee! One of my favorite games to play with the fam is Mexican Dominoes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_Train. Do check it out, I think it would be perfect for your Saturday game nights!
oh girl let me just tell you ... we love board games! our favorites are cranium, apples to apples, and battle of the sexes - all WAY better than yahtzee :)
Aww, I actually like yahtzee! But we also love card games like canasta, nerks (or nerts??) and spades. Looks like y'all were having some fun to me!
Dude, chicken feet is where it's at. And it can last forever - BEST game ever. You play it with Dominoes, but it's not a traditional dominoes game. It's so much fun I promise!
Apples to Apples is so much fun! Also, spades is a blast if you only have 4 people. Domino's is another game we love. Have you ever played Catchphrase? It's probably the most entertaining!
I love playing games! Y'all are so funny! When all of our friends get together we play domino's (Texas 42) It's so much fun....but I guess with a few drinks any game can be fun ;)
Cranium is good. Phase10 is a good card game that always gets pretty competitive for us. We recently found an old 90s game in the back of the closet that was a lot of fun. I think it was called Guesstures? Like charades except you had this contraption you put the cards in and it was timed so the cards would diappear and you would have to move on to the next one before your team could guess it! Lots of fun!
For a wild night get some liqour and Truth or Dare Jenga! You'll feel like you're in high school again!
hmm... you could always move to the oh-so-exciting game of Scrabble! Or maybe chess? I've never been much of a chess player myself, but others seem to like it. :)
Haha... You are too funny.. BTW - you have the best complexion ever.. What's your secret... :)
We play Taboo a lot.. It's a lot of fun... And Guesstures!
UGH I don't like Yahtzee either. And what kind of a name is Yahtzee anyway?
That is funny!!!
Cute post! Love the pictures!! My fave game is Scrabble!
Ha ha I love love love playing yahtzee! :) You guys look fun playing it too. I get so competative though. Anyways, have you ever played Apples to Apples? That game is pretty rediculous too!
oh mah goodness!
so glad you stopped by my blog. i am already enjoying yours!!
cannot wait to read more. stop by mine again soon!
cheers!
I am LOL at Yahtzee can take a long hike off a short cliff. That is hilarious.
Thanks for finding me and leaving me the great comment ;)
A game that we play at all our gamenights is called Celebrity. All you need is a timer, strips of paper, pens and a bowl. Every player writes down three people of note on three different pieces of paper - they can be actors, musicians, authors, politicians, people of note. You split into teams and just like you would charades, a team member grabs a paper from the bowl and see how many your team can guess in a minute. You can say any word but the celebrity's name. That's round 1. Round 2 you do the same thing but this time you must act it out, no words. Round 3, you can only say one word for your team to guess the celebrity. Its more fun than charades in my book - buuut I think charades is fun. And I'll hide my shame cap: I loooooved Yahtzee in college ;)
You guys seem like so much fun, can I come play!!??!
If you have a bigger group of maybe 5-8 people you have GOT to try the game Apples to Apples...its super fun!
Thanks for stopping by my blog - I love meeting new bloggers. I will definitely be reading yours!
What a funny post. We like Phase 10, Uno Attack, and SceneIt.
Ok so Yahtzee is a game we play, but we so prefer card games like Rummy and pirate something-er-another (that really helps huh :-)
We also REALLY like Mexican Train dominoes -- now it is Da Bomb baby (what does that even mean?)
Have a Blessed week,
Dawn
Uno rocks!
Now, I do love me some Yahtzee! Oh yes I do!! :)
this is hilarious! we love scrabble and play all the time! we are also fans of scene it with the DVD of movie clips! and seriously, I am still obsessed with your hair. i have got to do something with mine!
We play catch phrase a lot and love it! Scene it is good, I have heard of that celebrity game, sound fun and we plan to try it at our next game night!
wanna know what's cooler than yahtzee?
the way i still make a smiley face out of my exclamation points.
When we get together with friends or family, we love to play apples to apples. I'm right there with ya though, my husband loves yahtzee and I just dont enjoy it at all.
